Where are we now with funerals?

Ok so, someone has died and you want to know what you are allowed to do regarding the funeral and wake.

The UK government is trying its best but, the signals elsewhere are somewhat blurred. The official website instructs that you must respect social distancing guidelines at a funeral and keep 2 metres apart from people outside your household. Up to 30 family members and friends can attend a funeral. The venue must have enough space for you to follow social distancing guidelines. Check with the venue if you are not sure. You should not attend a funeral if you are unwell with coronavirus symptoms.

You can still attend a funeral if: you are self-isolating because someone in your household has symptoms but you do not have symptoms yourself and you are self-isolating because you’ve travelled to England in the last 14 days.

Covid-19 opportunities

If you want a cremation without ceremony, then now is the time to avoid the expense. Up to 30 people do not necessarily justify a full funeral cortege with top-hatted Funeral Director, fancy hearse and limousines. So, go to Go Direct Cremations. They will organise the entire procedure from start to finish. It does not matter where the deceased person is lying, they will arrange to collect the body from the hospital, care home or private house quickly and discretely anywhere in the UK

Ashes

Earth to earth, dust to dust, ashes to ashes so the prayer book goes. Many families wish to scatter their loved one’s ashes themselves, either in the garden at home, or at some special venue which the deceased loved. You may also arrange to have these scattered from a light aircraft or from a vessel, at sea. You can scatter them yourself on a lake or river and at the seaside. But, do use discretion and watch which way the wind is blowing!

The wake

Some prefer to hold a memorial service at church, others to hold a funeral breakfast or private celebration, later. This is often the preferred choice and, of course, since less money has been spent on the actual disposal of the body, there might be a little more cash to spend!

There you have it: the best way forward, with no hassle and a very keen price – Go Direct Cremations for a trouble-free low-cost cremation service.
